I’m Peter Lamont, Professor of History and Theory of Psychology at the University of Edinburgh. I used to work as a magician. After that, I became an academic. For three decades, I’ve studied, written and spoken about curious things such as magic, psychic phenomena, belief, wonder and critical thinking.

My recent book, Radical Thinking, is about how, if you think in a radical way, you can look beyond your limited view of the world to see the bigger picture.

Here, I’ll be writing about curious things – past, present and entirely made up – but, as you’ll see, they’re all related to one kind of wonder or another. I’ll be doing this (roughly) once a month, so no need to worry about endless emails …
